Downriggers are Deadly

So after discovering last week that my 21 foot centre console was 300 hours past its scheduled service, I’ve been restricted to the small boat. Which is not really a restriction, because I’m lovin’ it:

The problem is, all the action’s been happening offshore, out of the little boat's range. Here’s Chris Chan on Tuesday:

Thanks so much, Chris. With many of our readers in Sydney, and the weekend forecast looking fantastic, that’s really helpful. The travel restrictions mean we can’t fish far from home, but the current is running warm and blue on the North Coast. Sean Morgan reports from Port Macquarie:

Looking at that pic hurts! Seriously. can't believe I've got to miss mackerel season because of this damned virus. Not far north, at Coffs Harbour, Don Cummings caught a beast of a dolphin fish this week:

Mackerel have arrived late but in big numbers on the Gold Coast. Johnny Chow headed out to intercept them on Tuesday taking a key bit of tackle - our downrigger:

Thanks so much for your report, John. Good timing too because, yesterday, our overdue sea shipment of downriggers arrived. I’ve been driving back and forth to the post office ever since!
