How to use the
NSW fishing map
Find fishing spots, save your favourites and plan a day on the water. No account needed.
Find a place or a fish
Type a spot name, fish species or coordinates into the search box. Choose a result to open it on the map. Use Explore to browse all the fishing marks and filter by species or type.
Open a mark for the details
Tap a mark to see its description, depth and reported species. The card also has buttons to save the place, add it to a trip, copy its coordinates or share its link.
Keep your favourites in Saved Places
Choose Save place to keep a spot for later. Open Saved to see your list or return to a mark on the map.
Build a trip without saving everything first
Open Trip Planner and search for a boat ramp or fishing spot. Choose a starting ramp, add stops and use the up and down buttons to put them in order. You can include the return to the ramp.
Share the plan or print a trip sheet
Use Copy trip link to send your plan to someone else. They can open the same stops on the map. Print trip sheet gives you a paper copy of the plan.
Download marks as GPX
Where a mark’s coordinates have been confirmed in WGS84, you can download it as a GPX file. The Trip Planner can also export eligible stops together. If the button is unavailable, the card explains why.
Find your location
Open Layers and choose Use my location. Your browser will ask for permission, then show your approximate position on the map.

If something is not showing
Where did my saved places go?
Check that you are using the same browser, device and website address. A private window, cleared site data, a different browser or opening the Worker preview instead of the Shopify map can give you a separate empty library. Import your saved-place backup if you have one.
Why is GPX download unavailable for some marks?
Some older coordinates use an unknown or different GPS reference system. We keep those marks visible, with an explanation in the card, but do not offer a GPX download until the position is confirmed in WGS84.
Can I use this as a chartplotter?
No. This is a discovery and planning map. Use proper marine navigation equipment, current charts, notices and weather information on the water.
Are FAD positions always active?
No. FADs are seasonal and their status can change. Read the status and review date, then check the official source before planning a trip around one.
