Big excitement here at Downrigger HQ after fishing personality Sammy Hitzke uploaded a video, showing just how deadly our Head Starts can be. Check this out:
That wasn’t news to our clients. Here’s Bevan, with a nice Spanish:
They work on kingfish, too:
So what are they, you ask? Head Starts turn your bait into a trolling lure:
Note the important points in the pic above?
The hook is set way back in the bait, where predators like mackerel and wahoo bite;
An 80-pound breaking strain bead chain runs through the bait –
And nothing’s as flexible as a bead chain:
The Lexan plastic trolling head snaps over the bait’s head. Lexan is so tough it’s used for bullet-proof vests:
The diving bib attached to the snap-on head forces the bait to swim like a lure. Check this video out:
They come in a big range of colours:
Sammy’s video shows how deadly poddy mullet can be. But the usual preferred bait is garfish:
Or sauris, available in the frozen seafood section of Asian supermarkets:
They’re deadly - and they’re not expensive. Check them out here?
And give me a buzz, or drop me an email, with any questions whatsoever. Cheers
